Baluchistan is the province of Pakistan that is largest in area but is most under developed. It spans over the borders of Iran and Afghanistan. Baluchi rugs have repetitious patterns, normally of gul motifs borrowed from Turkoman guls. Baluchi rugs are normally tribal and in small sizes containing deep colors - shades of camel, deep reds, brown etc - and are highly durable. They have soft wool piles, and majority of the rugs are made of 100% wool and they normally contain tassle work and colorful lines in their classical make. The classical pillows & saddle bags (cushion pair) are also made in this category.
